Busted at Last

After MONTHS of trying, I finally managed to catch Alexis on video while she was singing. The key? Being in the car while we were sitting still. Daddy decided he wanted to wash my car, and rather than argue with such an outrageous idea, I peacefully sat in the car with Alexis while he scrub-a-dub-dubbed the grossness at a drive thru car wash. She was in the mood to boogy down, and I just so happened to have my crappy camera handy. (I have determined that she will never sing when I have the over-priced camcorder handy. I think she's trying to make sure any video of her singing in her early youth is of such poor quality that it won't be usable for her episode of E! True Life Stories.)

BTW, she's singing one of her top 5 favorite Signing Time songs. The lyrics are:

I'm really good at walking.
I'm really good at walking.
I can walk.

I'm really good at running.
I'm really good at running.
I can run.

I'm really good at jumping.
I'm really good at jumping.
I can jump.

Remember, I didn't say she was good. I said she loves to sing. She can always work on singing in tune when she's two.

In other shocking news, it turns out that Jen is a real live person, and she's even nicer in person than she comes across on her blog. She's so nice that she never once slapped me across the face and told me to shut up when I talked her ear off over lunch. Bloggy friends are the best kind!

  1. That video is awsome! Though I am glad you provided us with the lyrics. Too cute!

Don't you love meeting bloggy friends? I've only done it once before. I really wish some of my far away friends and I could get together.

  2. Hmmm. How odd. I thought I talked your ear off. You'll like this one. When I drove off, I looked over and thought you took the cheesecake. I was all "Oh man! I wanted that cheesecake. I can't believe she took it!" Later, I saw it in the back seat. It was delicious, in case you were wondering. (Hee, Hee) I'd write a post about meeting you, but I gotta go watch tv - I told you I'm an addict. TV and Blistex.

  3. She may not be good, but she sure is cute with her singing bad self. Thanks for sharing! I'm glad to see she survived the oversized Zoe and Elmo scare.

Way to go- you and Jen meeting up. That is awesome. Maybe we can plan a meeting at say, oh I don't know, a Steelers game sometime ;) Seriously...glad you both had a great time and enjoyed your lunch!

  5. So cute! Watch out American Idol. And I so have to stop reading your blog while Cooper is awake . . . "Baby! Pretty baby! Baby singing!" And I know there was a hubba-hubba mixed in there as well.

  6. So glad you caught her on tape. You should hook your camera up to the computer or TV and show it to her. She'll love it.

  7. Not to worry, the Toddler spends HOURS watching herself on my computer. She's been known to ask to "watch Alexis" more than a few times.

  14. I had to run away and leave the computer alone for 15 mins so that it would load, but then Amy made me watch it 3 times so she could se the 'Bay-Bay'.

Now she is convinced that there is a 'bay-bay' in my computer.

I'd love to meet some bloggy friends. I know two in "real life", but that's it. You're not toooo far from me--let's go to Target and then have lunch!!

  17. How adorable! You are so lucky you caught it on tape, she will LOVE looking at that in years to come...well, so will you!

BTW, I have that same exact car seat! My husband gave me a little bit of a hard time at spending that much on a car seat (although it really wasn't THAT much more), but I just told him the other day, it was one the BEST baby purchases we made. And we have owned a LOT of car seats so we have a lot to compare it to.

I was transferring the seat into our other car. I did it in about 2 minutes flat, and the seat was completely immovable. They are definitely worth every single cent.

  18. Oh, Alexis is a DOLL! And, woo hoo little lady. You got the Britax. I think she sings beautifully.

Somehow Old MacDonald now only has a duck...Donald Duck...on his farm over here. We get quite upset if he DARES to think about having any other animal on the farm.

She is adorable! The pics from Sesame Street are so cute, glad she finally got into it,..kind of!

I'm LMAO at your "product" post, those things are so god awful, can you imagine anyone in their right mind a) inventing them, and b) using them? Damn, if only we'd had the standing urinal when my boys were little, would have saved my guys so much time! Who needs bathrooms? :)

Your posts crack me up everyday, thanks for the chuckle! Take care.

  29. Cute! My kid's always making up songs. The lyrics are about as inventive as your daughter's are.

Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

  30. I have no idea, Caramama. I give it two attempts then say, "OK!" when I have no freakin' idea what she's saying. That would be approximately 50% of the time these days.

We all sing that song so much that I have no doubt when she's singing it. Usually she signs it, too, but she must not have been in the mood.

and this must be the week for meeting bloggy friends because Dawn at Because I Said So met her bloggy friend, Stephanie from Manic Mom (I think?).

*note to self: need to be closer to bloggy friends instead of living near Super-Bloggy-Superstars-That-Would-Probably-Never-Meet-Me-Because-I-Stalk-Them (okay, I don't really stalk, but you know what I mean...)
