I Wonder if the Zoo Has Any Cages I Could Borrow

Someone has a very severe case of The I Can't Sleeps.

That someone has been chased back to bed four times in two hours.

That same someone was JUST trying to convince me that she's hungry, despite the fact that I personally witnessed her eating more Thai food than I did a short four hours ago.

This is the someone who was SO unbelievably sweet and well-behaved this evening as the two of us went for a walk and dined at an almost fancy restaurant that I actually wondered to myself why I had ever checked the phonebook to see if there was a listing for "Traveling Gypsies Who Will Take Your Kid."

Someone is going to be very hard to wake in the morning.

Um, that would be me. After I manage to wake up enough to drag the kid's butt out of bed? Someone is getting sent to join the circus.

What circus doesn't need someone to stop and, uh, taste the flowers?

  1. Oh but she is just so, so cute! Who cares about sleep! She is just too cute! ;)

  2. I have tried and tried and tried calling up those worthless gypsies. Turns out it's all a bunch of hype. Worthless bastards won't show up when you really need them to haul off a cranky kid... They're always "busy".
    Sue!
I really think we could have a sturdy case if we all banded together...

  3. Kathryn's right - and why does a kid that cute need sleep anyway?

  4. I'm now seeing why the geriatric set naps ever 2.5 hours. They're still trying to make up for lost sleep when they had kids.

  5. LOL If only toddler beds came with padded restraint harnesses. :)

  6. If the zoo has any extra cages, send one my way... I could use it for Kameron! LOL

  7. You gotta be strong momma! Just a few nights of screaming and you will break this habit. Can you handle it?

Then again, maybe you aren't asking for advice. Sorry.

  9. So you're joining the circus?

Sounds like she's getting ready for a growth spurt. She'll probably start sleeping more once it hits. But the extra eating will jump start that.

  10. I'm in a similar boat right now.

Flea...growth spurt? Oh! maybe that is what my little guy is doing? That would be great to know and have as an explanation for me needing extra caffeine.

  11. i hate mornings in general, but when you add in child insomnia or illness into the late night hour mix, I am such a nightmare... every waking hour following the splintered sleep is like a butcher knife being shoved under my fingernails...

  12. What you blog about if she joined the circus? You should probably keep her around.

  13. Have you tried bribing her to keep her in bed...that's what my sister in law does with her 4 year old...works well for them. Although, then they end up watching at least 15 minutes of the Bee Movie every.single.day

  14. Ugh. I hate sleep issues. And do they think we are dumb? I get the, my toe hurts or I am SO thirsty or I need a little snacks all the dang time.
I feel your pain. Our dog sleeps with Bean now.
Maybe Meg should take one for the team.

  15. Is it something in the air? A moonphase? The same crap is going on here too. Leg cramps, stomach aches, thirsty, potty, you name it, it's been the excuse. I'm hoping the weekend will wipe away all the memories!

She would LOVE the circus, but I'm guessing they wouldn't serve her Thai food.

  16. My 8-year-old G has never been a sleeper- except when it's time to get up for school! It makes me mental. If you find any of those Gypsies, send them my way....

  17. You realize that all you are doing is convincing me that Dylan should stay in a crib, until he is 5?

  18. Kids don't need sleep...that's Aidan's theory anyway. LOL

  19. You know...if you'd just go to sleep you wouldn't have this problem. And to think you blame it on that sweet, adorable little angel!

  20. Oh gosh that picture is cute! But I'm feelin' you. Soooo there with you....

  21. But seriously, she is so cute. Who care about sleep issues when you have a stinking cute toddler.

Yup. I am lying through my teeth. My toddler has the same case of the no sleeps. It sucks.

  22. We have those gypsies on speed dial. And I'm not going to say this out loud, for fear that I will be proved wrong...but {shhhhh!} someone I know just got out of the 'No Sleeps' stage.

  23. See - your mistake is you were looking for gypsies. You have to look for aliens in the phonebook instead.

  24. Has she met my 6 year old?! We start with I can't sleep and when that doesn't work it goes to I'm scared of the dark then she lays in bed gradually getting louder with her whining. I'd completely ignore this if it wasn't for her little sister sleeping right next to her! Recently I told her to count sheep because I was running out of ideas and would you believe IT WORKED!

  25. she'll get over this problem when she's a teenager.

you can't DYNAMITE those kids out of bed!!
