Her First Letter to Santa. *Sniff, Sniff*

We hadn't even been in our seats long enough to open our menus when he trounced over to our table. "Hi, there!" he enthusiastically said to Alexis. "We have a mail box for Santa over by the door. Did you see it?" he paused momentarily, but not really long enough for anyone to respond. "If you fill this letter out for Santa and put it in the mailbox, he might send you something!" With a flourish, the Bob Evans manager handed Alexis' a piece of paper and flittered away.

He was so enthusiastic that we couldn't really ignore his request. Once we had placed our brinner order, Mr. Husband set to helping Alexis write the letter. "What do you want for Christmas?" he asked.

For months, that question has elicited the same response. "A Princess ball!" she will exclaim. Santa was kinda liking this thing where the kid only wanted a $6 ball, except that he couldn't seem to figure out where she saw the one that she wanted. Santa might be losing his mind over THAT minor detail. So, he was a bit relieved to hear that Alexis had come up with a brand spanking new answer this time around. "A guitar and a microphone!" she said.

The not yet four-year old carefully set out to draw the letters as Mr. Husband spelled the words for her. Until she got to her name, that is. She didn't need help with that part.

Before she could finish, the very excited manager stopped by again. "Oh! Look! You're working on your letter! When you are finished, I'll help you take it to Santa's mailbox!" he exclaimed. The Real Santa was starting to wonder if the manager was working on some sort of Santa Letter commission as he seemed to be doing nothing but flittering from kid to kid pimping for that mailbox. The Real Santa thought maybe some drink refills would be nice.

Anyway.

When all was said and done, there was a carefully crafted letter in Santa's box. Alexis had managed to write all but two of the characters all. by. herself.

The Real Santa was so proud he rushed to the computer when he got home and ordered that guitar and microphone. Now Santa just has to figure out where the heck the kid saw that very specific Princess ball.

  2. Try asking the lady at babycheapskate - she can put up a post and you could have hundreds of (other) people (that [maybe] don't read this blog) looking for you :-).

Now that's adorable! And I hope that Real Santa got her refill.

I'm going to throw this out there because...well, I had a 3yo princess-obsessed girl at one point...but, um, could it possibly be that she means a Ball ball? Like..a big, fancy dance with princes and chandeliers and evening gowns? Because that's what One wanted.

  6. We GOT the princess ball! It was a STFU present in Toyr R Us the other day. We took the kids in there to see what dollhouse C would like the best and of course, all she wanted was this $4.99 giant Disney Princess ball. So I bought it to distract her while Mike bought the dollhouse and put it in the car.

It's in the middle in those ball-bins in the back by the bikes. At least that was where it was in our store.

If you want a picture, let me know.

  7. @Kelley--NO. I'm pissed, too. I wanted that letter, but the dang manager was so enthusiastic about that stupid mailbox that he managed to snag the kid and her letter before I could say a word. We got a free meal coupon in the mail yesterday in exchange. :-/

  8. I *think* she is thinking of the giant ball with Princesses on it and a handle so that you can sit on it and bounce. There is a decent chance that she saw it at either Wal-Mart or Target, but that would have been over a month ago. Santa needs to be able to go to a store kid-free and then he will probably find it.

  14. I will never be a good santa. There is no chance that I will be able to recall when and where Braden sees things he wants. I am too scatter brained. Just another reason I am glad to have my better half.

  18. Priceless. I hate that the manager was so pushy. At least you were able to get a picture of her writing that first letter to Santa. Now when she's older and ask if Santa is real, you can pull out that picture and tell her, the little girl in the picture believed he was. (Hugs)Indigo

That's awesome! And at least she asked for something that you can get her. When my sister was about her age, she was at some party and told Santa that she wanted roller skates. The Santa told her absolutely and they would be under the tree Christmas morning. My mom said she had never mentioned skates before that moment. I think if she could have killed Santa right there she would have. It was two days before Christmas and my mom looked at every store in town for roller skates that would fit her and couldn't find a single pair. My mom said after we finished opening our presents, my sister sat and cried. She kept saying "Santa promised me roller skates".

Good luck with the princess ball!

  20. So cool! I mean, the letter part. Not the part where you have absolutely no clue what a Princess ball is. Good luck with that!

  21. @Indigo--He was more excited than pushy. His exuberance was a bit contagious, I have to admit.
