Thank You, Target

I'm not sure if it makes her crazy lucky or if it means she gets screwed, but Alexis having a birthday at the end of January means she is a child of the clearance aisle. She winds up gifted with whatever is most on sale. It probably means she gets more, but at the same time, we spend less. It definitely means she winds up with stuff we wouldn't otherwise purchase.

Like, a Fur Real Friend. We don't do electronic much of anything. We especially don't do expensive electronic much of anything. But when a panda ends up marked down to less than $10, suddenly it sounds like a good idea.

It was.

  2. It's great to be able to shop clearance, for better or worse. We aren't electronic toy people, either, but we also have plenty of things that are, either from irresistible deals or gifts.

Alexis is so adorable, and looks very happy in those shots! I love the dress and the fact that she gets all dressed up for special occasions (or whenever she feels like it, I bet, right?)

Seems like it was a good birthday; did she enjoy it?

The second picture is seriously one of the cutest pictures you have ever posted of your daughter.

    Love your site, btw!

We had the life-like Fur Real dog. Of course, I'm stooooopid and paid full price for it. Morgan loved it for about three days and then "Jo-Jo" was sent to sit in the corner of the family room. I sold it a few months ago and THEN the kid asked where it was because she wanted to play with it.

I am totally sending you money for birthdays and Christmas--I am HORRIBLE at shopping the clearance aisles. My husband probably would have something to say about that if it wouldn't mean getting The Look and a "Well...then YOU do all the shopping".

    Good deal! Great pictures :)

  9. The dress is an Alice in Wonderland costume that she also got for her birthday. If you hit the Disney Store the last week of October, costumes are usually already on clearance. That one was $15 plus another $2 for the headband. :-)

  11. Having early January birthday is the same way, except if you want something like the zhu zhu pet, it's still too soon after Christmas for them to be in stock and if they do get them, they're bought up by all the kids with exchanges and gift cards.

  12. I almost bought that! I buy at Target in January for all the birthdays that we get invited to over the course of the year. Love it!
    Great shots btw!

  14. It is never too early to teach the ways of the Clearance Aisle. :) And she doesn't look like she'd ever THINK of complaining!
