Her First Minion

Once upon a time, there was a dog that liked kids. In fact, she REALLY liked them, just as long as they were served rare, with a bit of salt, and a side of bacon. And then came Alexis, and the dog formerly known as the Child Eater instantly underwent a personality change. I don't know how it happened, I don't know why it happened, I just know that Jasmine acts as if she can't imagine a world without Alexis in it.

And now that Jasmine has decided she will follow the Toddler's every command, I'm pretty sure Alexis can't imagine a world without her Jasmine.

  2. So sweet! :)

My (remaining) dog has gone through so many personality changes relating to the kids, I have *no idea* what to expect from day to day!

(P.S. Thanks for your comment earlier today--I was laughing about it *all day* long!!) ;)

  3. She looks like a child eater in that last shot. :) That's so sweet that the two have bonded. Maybe Alexis will grow up to be a Dog Whisperer.

  4. It's amazing how animals change like that, isn't it? E can't start her day without burying her face in her Kitty's fur - the same kitty that will swipe my arm off if I roll over too close at night.

  6. I think dogs just intuitively know that they must love the baby.

  9. Our dog has undergone the same personality change. It might be because we keep telling him to be nice to the baby, or he might end up on the BBQ.

  11. I find that totally amazing. I've seen it go the other way more than I'd care to admit. Too adorable. Both of them.

And as an aside, how difficult is it to keep the hairiest one looking good? My daughter wants a Maltese and the hair, quite frankly, scares me.

Can Jasmine teach Lanna a thing or twelve. The damn pet psychologist took my hundred bucks and said she was jealous. Really? Think so? I garnered that, bitch. I WISH things were that smooth over here. I love that shirt!

  18. That's so great to hear! It's amazing how they can change their personalities like that. It sounds like she's in love with her little girl. And hey, who's surprised? We're all in love with your girl!

Our dog loves our girl, too, but she is a licker. Oh. My. Lord. The licking!! That part of her personality only got worse with a baby crawling around at her level. Sigh...

  19. My dog is in love with my little guy too...unless my little guy has food and then the toddler is the enemy and must be growled at...my dog is a chihuahua jack russell with "big dog syndrome."

  20. Karen--I have two words for you--NO SHEDDING. I lose more hair in a day that the furry one. If we were really good doggy parents and kept up with things as we should, we would comb her for 5 to 10 minutes per week. She gets a bath once per month mostly because she a very efficient white dust mop and I can't stand when she starts to look a little brown. The baths have been going on for as long as she can remember, so she has learned to enjoy bathtime and the subsequent blow drying and combing session. Seriously, she'd never admit it out loud, but she likes all the attention.

I spend less time grooming Jasmine than I do wiping up puddles of Meg fur, that's for sure.

AFF--The shirt is a Karen original. I'm telling you, you need to hit her up for some supercuteness for G. The woman kicks ass.

Jonny's Mommy--I kind of suspect food might be at the root of Jasmine's willingness to comply with all things Toddler. There's almost always some sort of food trail running down her shirt.
