Public Service Announcement 1.06: Blogger Reply Emails

You know how when you get an email notification of a comment on a Blogger post the from email address sometimes says "noreply" instead of the person's actual email address? Don't you hate that? I mean, wouldn't it be nice if you could just click reply on that email and let the person that left the comment know just how funny they are? You can, if the commenter takes a moment and sets up their email address in their Blogger Profile.

I am hereby ordering all of you fellow Blogger users to do the following steps so that I can start replying to you directly when the mood hits me:

1. Log into Blogger.
2. Click Edit Profile directly below your profile picture.
3. In the Privacy section, place a check mark in the Show My Email Address check box.
4. In the Identity section, type your email address.
5. Click Save Profile.

It'll only take a few seconds and it won't hurt at all. Promise.

Also, if you're concerned about getting spam because of these steps, you need not worry. Blogger doesn't post your actual email address in your profile, it just provides a link. Spambots can't see your information.

Why are you still here? Go fix your email already! Thank you!

  1. I'm so glad I already have this done! I wouldn't want to be on your bad side! you might send those human biting worm things to live here! Yikes!

I too love when I can just reply and I hate the no-reply thing

  2. Um, can I be exempt from this, since you already have my email? Can you answer another bloggy question for me instead? A potential employee googled me, she saw a comment I left on Finslippy's blog that for some reason gave my full name(not sure why), which then took her to my blog! Can I erase a comment on someone's blog way after it has been posted? Help, oh wise one.

  4. I already have my profile public and I like it when other's allow me to reply to them directly. I've discussed this before on my blog. I'm guessing you've changed it now? I think in the past you were a no-reply blogger, but I've also got your e-mail, so I find you anyway. :)

  6. Oh yeah, I know the answer to Jen's question, there's a little trash can under your comment on another blog and you can delete your comment. I've done it before and it leaves a note saying the comment was deleted by the author.

Due to an incrase in fear, I have updated my Blogger profile.

  8. I take orders well. I did it as I still had your page up. (Because I need visuals like that.) Thanks! Now if everyone else will kindly do that I, too, can comment back via email. That would be so very nice.

  9. I did this because some pages didn't seem to be too keen on non-Blogger accounts trying to leave comments. Or something. I know there was some method to my madness.

I can't do it. Simply because when I set up my Blogger account I used my real Yahoo address. And so now I can't use the Gmail address that I set up for people to email me from my blog. Although I would happily trust you with my personal email address, I can't trust all of bloggy land.

But it would make my teeny tiny bladder pee my pants if someone as funny as you emailed me. So feel free to holla at catwoman.in.texas at gmail.com
