The Toddler Talks, I Laugh

*******************************************

Me: Why are you licking your toes?
Toddler (while thrusting feet into my face): You want some?

*******************************************

Toddler: I want to sleep with Dora.

(She was referring to sleeping in her bed that is currently oozing fluffy Dora goodness in the form of sheets, pillowcases, and blankets. Even though I know that, it still cracked me up.)

*******************************************

Mommy (as we were driving through a thick cloud of Eau de Skunk): Alexis, do you smell the skunk?

Toddler: No, french fries.

*******************************************

Alexis (at 4:00 am, after literally bumping into me in the hallway): I go to bed.

(I smell victory coming around the corner. If I can just get complete cooperation from all the troops to stand our ground, we'll be there soon.)

*******************************************

Toddler (upon realizing that Mr. Husband was driving the truck in front of us as we were on our way to drop it off for repairs): Hi, Daddy!

Me: He can't hear you, honey.

Toddler (yelling): HI, DADDY! HEAR ME?

  2. those were freakin' funny!

does she talk that clearly? or are you being nice enough to translate?...because Gavin's going on 4 and I sometimes still have no idea what the heck just came out of his mouth.
the other day I told Gavin "we need to stop for gas" and he replied, "gas? did you fart? you need 'scuse me?"

I couldn't stop laughing the whole time I pumped the gas.

  3. She's funny like her momma :)

  4. All of those statements were clear enough that I didn't have to translate for Mr. Husband. Given that I feel like I should be getting paid for my translation services most days, I'd say that's a pretty good indicator. Some days, though, even I have no freakin' idea what she's blabbing about.

  6. I think Dora totally sucks, but I think she's better than Barney. I'm so glad he's not en vogue anymore . . . those overly enthusiastic kids on that show scared the hell out of me.

Oh, and of course, your daughter is gorgeous!

  7. What kind of french fries have you been feeding Alexis?? HA!

She's such a cutie! Looks like she's all set to go camping or something there. Hopefully the snow will be gone by August or so!

  8. Well, depending on where you're getting your french fries, they reall y could smell like skunk. It's just when she starts describing your cooking that way that you have to worry ;-)

  12. KidSpeak always cracks me up, but sharing the toes is just hysterical. Mistaking skunk for french fries may explain why she licks toes.

  13. She's a riot! A toe-licking riot.

The hear me one made me laugh out loud :) Well, so did the toe licking. And the sleeping with Dora. As well as the french fries.

    And her going to bed.

*Sigh* Would've been easier for both of us had I just typed "they all made me laugh".

  18. LOL! I go to bed!! And why is it they think talking louder can make Daddy hear in a different turck?

  19. Hi daddy hear me?
    Love it! Soooo cute.

My little one isn't talking that much yet, but boy when he does I expect floods of words to come out.

Love the photo. She is sooo adorable.

I never told you this, but there is a little girl that goes to my sitters who reminds me so much of Alexis and when I see her I think "this is what Alexis must look like in person..." Her hair is a little lighter, but her name also starts with an "a". The other day the sitter told me that she had started running up with her arms open saying "I wove you." and if she does anything wrong before the sitter can say anything she goes: "I woooove you!"

So cute, but breaks the sitter right down and she can't figure out how to scold her at that point.

    Sorry for blathering on...

She should definitely get a gold star at daycare for her sharing skills.

I'd eat my toddler's toes if he'd let me. I love how little and meaty they are.
