Thank Y'all

I love comments. Love, love, LOVE comments. I also love emails. Love, love, LOVE emails. But today? All day? Has been THE BEST! Y'all are so sweet to be concerned about my mental stability following last night's game. Seriously. SO SWEET!

I am totally fine. If I jump off a bridge in the next few days, it won't be because I'm at all disappointed in the performance of the Pittsburgh Penguins. I am nothing but proud of the fight the players showed each and every game and the class Pens fans showed after last night's game. All those folks who hung out after the game chanting, "Let's go Pens" and politely congratulating the Wings during the trophy ceremony? Every single one of them rocks.

I love me some Penguins hockey, I love me some Penguins players, and I love me some Penguins fans.

My biggest love, though? All of y'all who took an interest in the game(s) because you knew I was interested in the games. Here's a sample comment from Cecily that had me grinning for hours:

"Guess what! Our whole darn family watched last night. All of us squished on the couch. We all cheered for the Penins (I don't think Gracie and Isaac ever got that they weren't really called that). And even though it was the first hockey game any of us other than Jon had really taken an interest in, we were all way bummed. BOOO."

New hockey fans? Maybe. If so--AWESOME! New Pens fans? Maybe. If so--SO VERY AWESOME! And bonus--you gotta' love a little Penguins hockey bringing a family together.

All y'all who showed a little interest in whether the Pens won or lost, stay tuned. It's a young team. The best is yet to come.

It's not a matter of "if" they'll win that Cup, it's "how many times" and "when" they'll win that Cup.

We all know it.

  1. I thought of you earlier today. :) Better luck next year. Sounds like they'll be a good team for a long time.

  2. When I was younger, I wanted to be a professional hockey player...and I wanted to play for the Penguins. How odd is that?! Incidently, I cannot ice skate and have never played hockey! LOL!

  3. Did you read Karen, at the Rocking Pony's, post today about a penguin? Probably better than your poor penguin story. :(

  4. While I was rooting for the Pens to win, I'm sorry to say --for me-- it was more about a Wings LOSS than anything else. I was so very upset that didn't happen. *sigh*

(and yes, I DO carry a grudge for EVERY.SINGLE.LOSS my precious, precious Avs had to suffer at the sticks of those EVIL Wings. Why do you ask?) :)

    Glad to see the optimism!

  5. Yes, it was very sad that they lost but they did put up a good fight. I am just glad that they didn't lose after triple overtime again at 1am. I think I would have cried then.

I was so bummed that we didn't win. Not because of being competitive, but because they played so HARD these last few games. They really rose the the occasion. It would have been so nice to have that cup. My brother (who ended up sitting center ice--the rascal) said the atmosphere at the end of the game was one of happiness. Everyone knew that they tried their best and put up a great fight. He said it was unbelievable--not something you usually feel or see when your team loses the big game.

The best part of all of this...we are a YOUNG team and we are goin' places. LET'S GO PENS!

  8. You have so many great blogging friends because YOU are a great blogging friend. The Pens made it a heck of a lot further then my Habs did.

  9. Sam and I were just discussing the young up-and-coming team. They were so close this year and they only stand to get better with each passing season. Next year? Look out!

  10. By "cup" you mean jock strap, right?

    Heh.

Don't worry - just a few more weeks until football season. And hell, we ALL love football season. Though I cheer for the Redskins . . . my dad cheers for the Steelers. That counts for something,r ight?

  11. Ahh. I love comments too.
But not many people read my blog.. so no one comments it.
If you could be such a nice person, send some people over.. or give me a hint on how to get more people to read it.

Yep, I came here this morning looking for your "morning after post" only to find last nights garden photos, which are nice, BTW. But I did make my hubby sit through the majority of the game and ceremonies at the end. Go Pens!

  14. I was following you on twitter. ;) Didn't need to see the game. LOL!

  15. I am sorry they lost and I did root for them, but I'm also glad it's over. My husband has been trying for 18 years to make me a sports fan and he's been unsuccessful. Sorry. (and I was just kidding about what I said on Twitter last night.)

Oh, and right now I'm stuck watching basketball. I love July. I only have to put up with baseball.

  16. You know, that's why I came my here...to make sure you were OK:) FWIW, I was for the Pens as well!

  17. Great. Now I feel like a schmuck for not sending you flowers or something.

(Somehow, I don't take you for a flowers girl, though.)

I was watching. SCREAMING at the last .6 seconds thinking the shot went in ... DAMN Wings.

  18. I dunno. I think I might become a hockey fan. If I do, I don't think I'll ever cheer for another team even though I've never even been near your fair city.

And I don't think I'll ever call them by their given name.

Ever. Penins is just too fun to say.

  19. I wasn't worried about you. I knew if you could handle the Steelers loss, you'd be okay this time around also. And, hey, now you have more time at night for BLOGGING, right? ; )

  20. I really missed living in the burgh this week. I really love Pittsburgh, the teams (sorry, even the Pirates) and the fans are the absolute BEST! Those penguins did a fantastic job. No, they didn't win, but they put up an amazing fight and should be very proud!

  21. Sorry, but the cup is coming back to Canada next year. Edmonton, specifically. The Oliers have to have it in this decade and next year is the last chance. Though I suppose 2010 would make a nice even 20 years since the last. That really dates me.

  22. I was sad for your Pens, even if I wanted to see them on my grill with beer cans up their butts....I just wanted to see the RedWings with beer cans up their butts even more! :)

But those were some good games (even if I never saw my old crush Chelios play...but maybe it's better that I didn't, so that my heart and memory will not be tainted with images of him scoring in a Red Wings jersey...only memories of him in his Blackhawks jersey...).

When I saw your tweet to the fans to not boo, I knew you were okay. :) But you never mentioned how Mr. Husband is doing....
