She's Got Wheels and She Knows How to Use Them

I'm not exactly sure when it happened, but Alexis has figured out how to pedal a bike. By herself. Without help. Did I mention that she doesn't need me to help her? Yeah, so she doesn't need help. Anyway, at first I was all BOOOOOO! Quit growing up! But now I'm starting to see the silver lining on that funky little rain cloud.

Things Alexis can do now that she can ride a tricycle:

1. Run to the grocery store and buy her own damn fruit snacks. I'm bored of that chore.

2. Take herself to daycare in the morning. It's just across the street from our house. It shouldn't take her more than ten minutes to get there, just so long as she's able to make it up the really, really, really steep hill in between here and there. I might actually make it to work on time if I don't have to drop her off.

3. Chase the Bulldog until the pup is soooo tired she passes out in the driveway. That would keep her out of my bed, thereby granting me a few hours of peaceful sleep.

4. Hook herself up to a power generator and pedal her way to earning her keep around here. If she can generate enough electricity to power the TV, I'll consider turning on the Latina Whore a little more often.

5. Ride up the street and befriend the little punk that keeps throwing rocks in our Koi pond. Once she befriends him, Alexis can run his punk butt over with her fancy little tricycle. They won't press charges against a two-year old, especially if the kids were friends.

At least this growing up thing isn't ALL bad.

  1. And who said toddlerhood was tough?

I'm going to wake J up right now . . . he's got some pedaling to learn. Now that he's ONE, he's gotta earn his keep.

I'm wondering if you could attach a catpult to throw the bulldog somehow? That would take care of the koi punk.

Could you please send her this way to teach Cooper how to pedal? Seriously . . . I am all for a good workout, but pushing his bony rear up and down the street is getting pretty darn old.

And please take pictures of her kicking the crap out of the koi-boy - I will put them in the same folder as yesterday's shot of Phelps.

  4. Somewhere along the way, Miss Peach figured this out as well. Maybe they can start a toddler biker gang? I can make some jackets;)

  5. actually one of the happiest days of my life was when my last child learned to pump her legs on a swing.

    my pushing days were over!!!!

  6. Too funny. My little man still hasn't figured it out. I think he is going to be scooting himself along in middle school. He says he doesn't need help either. Ever.

  7. She can pedal, but can she steer?

My kid looks down at her feet and therefore hits every tree, dog, pole, and curb.

  8. Can you have her peddle over here and bring me a Diet Coke please?
I love that pic of her.

So, is she the newest member of Hell's Angels or is her application still in the approval process?

  9. Maybe start with pedaling to the mailbox to get the mail for you & work her way up. Or you could start big with the daycare thing.

Can she teach my 4 year old how to peddle? Can you have her pick me up some lunch too? I'm sure she can go through drive thru's now.

  11. She can have a delivery service and make some cash for you. That would be cool.

It's just really too bad that the bulldog can't be hooked up for additional pulling power, you know - for those hills.

Okay....I spit my drink out at the last one. Are you talking about my kid? Cause I don't think he can throw THAT far....but he has been known to throw rocks in the neighbors pond. Really. One day I checked and I don't think the fish had any room to swim.....plus, maybe a couple were slightly wounded.

    You go Dora loving girl!

  13. Go Alexis!!
It took Bean forever to figure out how to pedal FORWARD not backwards.
I agree, make her earn her keep. Also, just like swimming, bike riding makes them NICE and sleepy!

  14. 4. Hook herself up to a power generator and pedal her way to earning her keep around here. If she can generate enough electricity to power the TV, I'll consider turning on the Latina Whore a little more often.

    LMAO. My day is made.

  15. Love the trike! I've never seen one like it. My kids rode a two dollar bike we found at a garage sale. We painted it and replaced the wheels.

Wait till she's old enough to ride a Big Wheel! That's a kick to watch. :) Then she let the other kids on the block pay her to ride it.

  16. You have inspired me with your daughter's love for the "Latina Whore," who now my son, yes, my son. *rolling eyes because Hubby is all freaked out over it* loves.

I'll be putting a post up on that soon.

In addition, could you send Alexis across the state so she can teach Jonathan how to pedal that dang $30 bike I bought him that he can't yet figure out. Yeah, might have been a little premature to get that for him. He's not even 2.

    Oh well.

  17. Seriously? I'm taking notes! My daughter just mastered riding a two wheeler, and it's about time she started fending for herself. lol

OMG, we had that same bike. Last year was the transition year to a big wheel "fast bike" and that "baby" bike was set out for the trash. I was very sad. Even more sad when the Cozy Coupe went last year.

  19. we have that same tricycle....Ashlyn loved it and I am hoping Riley won't notice the purple on it and use it too one day!

  20. To heck with all that, get her a job delivering pizza's! At least she'll make some real money for ya. :)

  21. We have that same bike and my daughter loves it! I feel badly though because the wheels don't have a lot of friction to them because they are made out of hard plastic, so she often isn't super successful at "biking" (if we can call it that) up hill!

  22. DUDE! WE HAVE THAT BIKE! WE HAVE THAT BIKE!

sorry...been sippin' the wine and in total cheering mode.

I'm not even sure that Gavin can pedal his bike yet.

  23. You go girl!

My daughter finally figured out you have to use your leg MUSCLES (not just gravity) to get the pedals to move.

  24. Brilliant ideas. Gonna go utilize them now.

  25. Love the trike ideas...it's about time that girl took charge of her own life! ;)
