Just When You Think You Know a Kid

Guess what Alexis did today.

Go ahead, guess.

Sat on Santa's lap.

Uh huh. On her own free will.

I didn't see it, but I did see photographic evidence.

Apparently, if Santa visits your class at daycare and gets down on the floor and plays with Barbies, THEN it is OK for you to circle him like a shark, inching closer and closer with every lap, right up until you're standing next to him. Then, if your teacher introduces you to Santa, he is totally allowed to say, "Want to sit on my lap?"

Just do it. Sit on Santa's lap. Then tell Santa that you want a Penguins Game and Sidney Crosby for Christmas.

BTW, if you hear reports of some crazy ol' dude with a white beard stalking Sidney to the point of a restraining order, it totally wasn't me. It was SANTA, and he's just trying to make a little girl's dreams come true.

Reminder: The Christmas Crazy party is starting soon! I'll be putting up Mr. Linky tomorrow night so that y'all can start linking up your photos, stories, and links about the Christmas crazy you found in your life. Thanks!

Since Santa wraps, I better start working on a box big enough to hold a hockey player . . .

  1. I don't know about Sidney Crosby the man, but his clothing line was on sale all this week.

  2. Who wouldn't want Crosby, I mean just imagine how good the Blackhawks would be then? :)

  3. Have no idea who that guy is, but I sure do hope Alexis gets EVERYTHING she asks for!!!

Thought of you the other day when a certain song came on the radio. We haven't played that game in a while, so I thought I send you a little pre- Christmas crazy myself--joyride!

    Go Alexis!

And the real Santa does play Barbies. All the others are posers.

  5. Isn't she an overachiever? Sitting on Santa at age 2 is unprecedented.

  6. Santa visits my preschool classroom every year. And every year I get at least 3 notes from parents asking if so and so can leave the room because he/she is terrified of Santa. And every year I say, "They can just watch from afar." And every year those kids go up to Santa, say hello, and get a candy cane or whatever it is he's handing out. Sometimes kids are a bit braver when their parents aren't there. Or maybe it's the peer pressure of watching all their friends talk to Santa and walk away unharmed.

  7. That is funny, and a genius plan on the daycare's part! Yes, Santa would be much less threatening sitting on the floor playing with Barbies. You should give the Santa at the mall that little nugget of wisdom!

I just posted about what Dylan wants for Christmas, too. And, I thought his was far fetched!

That's not fair to you. She performs while you can't be there. For shame.

  10. Did I not get it? Are you now one of Santa's helpers? :o

I'd like Sidney Crosby for Christmas, too, but I think my husband would be upset and it might even be illegal for a 27 year old woman to think such thoughts about jailbait. Oops.

  11. @Heather--He's not jail bait anymore! Still a baby, but not jail bait.

  12. What a brave girl!
Okay, did she really ask for that or did you? Cuz that is the cutest thing ever! :)

  13. Santa, the fat white wrapper. How on earth will you effectively wrap Sidney? You tranqin' him first?

What a very smart daycare place, making Santa accessible for the kids to break down those walls of fear. Tell them not to get any bright ideas with clowns and mimes, though.

  14. @Kat--I swear we had nothing to do with her Christmas wishes.

  15. Adorable picture.

My 23 month old sat on Santa's lap! In the picture he looks REAL concerned, but no crying. I was very surprised.

  16. That is too funny that she wants a hockey player for Christmas!!! And she is soooo cute in those sunglasses. so where is the pic of her with Santa?

  17. My youngest son never wanted to sit in Santa's lap either, he said he smelled bad. Go figure, having a ton of screaming, squirming toddlers in your lap is no reason to need lots and lots of alcohol.

  18. My kids never want to sit on Santa's lap. Unless, it is my dad dressed up as Santa. Otherwise they just put their wish list in the mail!

    Oh well...

  19. I'll give the kid one thing: Santa playing with Barbie is way less intimidating than scary mall Santa.

It's so unbelievably cute that she wants Sidney Crosby for Christmas. And that picture is also unbelievably cute--love the sunglasses, even though they say "Dora" on the side ;)

  25. Don't care abut stalker Santa. Love that Alexis sat on his lap. But mostly, I WANT TO SEE THAT PICTURE! As you know, when I'm catching up I don't read ahead... There had BETTER be a picture of a cute little girl on an old perv's lap or I'm gonna be one very disappointed Grannywannabe! LOL!

  26. GAH! I'm all the way back to current already and NO PICTURE! Waaaa! Waaa!! LOL!

No Mr. Linky, either, though, so I'll be back later. There's no way I'm missing thie Christmas Crazies after you had me shaking in my boots today! ;o)

  27. that's one kick-butt santa to play with barbies!

  28. Good for her! Our Santa came today too and I thought one of our boys would climb the wall. He was completely red faced and scared but this miraculous thing happened when the presents came out. All fear was gone and he marched right up to Santa to get his. I guess some lines are worth crossing.

  29. Santa wraps the gifts delivered here under the Big Top too!
I love how your sweet miss handled her santa encounter and if she tires of Sidney, this Penguins fan will gladly take him off of her hands.
