Can You Keep a Secret?

Psst . . .

Don't repeat what I'm about to write to anyone. NO ONE. I will hunt you down and stab you in the face with a spork if you do. Got it?

Remember that thing where Alexis had turned into a diabolical monster? You know, the thing where she was acting Three by impersonating a grumpy Linda Blair? She was arguing with everything we said, throwing fits like they were parties, and generally making it very difficult to even be in a room with her.

She's done now.

No, really. I haven't seen a full-blown fit in two weeks. There have been minor disagreements, but we've worked through them without resorting to terrorist tactics. There's still a bit of mouthiness, and I'm still considering writing to the dictionary police and begging them to remove the word "no" from the English language, but it's SO much better around here.

I might even like the kid again.

Funny thing is, one morning she walked down the hall, climbed into bed with me, and whispered, "Momma, I'm done being mad now."

She knew she was being a jerk. And, decided to stop.

Wooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooo!

Just please don't tell anyone. I don't want word to get back to Alexis that I have noticed that's she's back to her usual spectacular self. She is her mother's daughter, and will most certainly switch back just to spite me.

Shhhhhh . . .

  1. Dude ... you must delete this post IMMEDIATELY. As soon as you type, write, or say anything like this out loud, it's bound to be a disaster.

    HURRY! DELETE NOW!

  3. @trannyhead--She can't read. I'm totally safe!

Um, totally safe from malaria. Yeah, malaria. I was not referring to the kid turning crazy again, because I'm certain she will do that any minute now.

  4. I will trade you potty training for tantrums.

Good lord, I would totally let E pee wherever she wanted if she would just stop with the nuclear meltdowns.

I truly hope Alexis remains sane. For your sake, obviously.

  7. Don't you LOVE it when you can honestly say you like them again? It just feels like fresh air.

And the picture? Perfection. She may not always be an angel, but that kid is always adorable!

  12. Oh dude. Dude dude dude. You just challenged the gods by publishing this post. Expect them to accept said challenge and leave a behavior bomb on your doorstep. And it won't be a little flurry of fury -- expect full blown higgledy-piggledy. That's the way they work.

Of course, I'm anxiously awaiting it, cause that'll be some good reading! :)

  13. @Three--I am confident that we will have a wonderful, good behavior-filled weekend. That's why I plan to immediately acquire body armor and ear plugs.

  16. Mums the word, but I have to warn you, she will switch back, it will happen around 13 years old and will last, well I don't know how long it will last my oldest is 18 and still will do this sometimes.

  17. Your secret is safe here. Now I have a secret for you......It comes back, starts around 8 and continues until 23 (could be longer but my oldest is that age and he still has a mouth and attitude, so I have to let you know when it stops.) Enjoy the peace and niceness while you can. But really she is adorable and I have a problem thinking she could be anything but sweet. heh!

  18. Unfortunately...they are all phases - the good, the bad and the ugly. But glad to hear you can enjoy a "good" phase for a while. Hopefully it will last a bit longer than the bad and ugly phases.

Please GOD send me a copy of the parenting manual you are using - mine seems to have gotten lost in the mail. The big one is starting to wear-off onto the little one . . . I will be writing the decree that 'No' be removed from the English language.

  20. You know what's gonna happen now, right?

Thanks for rubbing in the good behavior though! Nice, real nice.

  21. I won't tell. Hope it lasts a very long time.

  22. Glad to hear it. I hope this "phase" lasts forever!!

  23. Oh I am so glad your little girl is back! Welcome back, Alexis.

Now, please sit down and tell my 2-year old that he doesn't have to be mad anymore either.

Even though last night was much better. Maybe he is over it too.

    Here's hoping!

  24. That is the greatest pic. I think when I have kids you will need to move in and take their picture. Because I can't take pictures to save my life.....

  25. @Julie--Practice makes perfect. I take, on average, about 50 pics a day. Eventually you figure out how to get better ones.

That face, it could melt butter. I think that's how they get away with stuff: the uber cuteness. Good luck!!!

  27. Love the new header!

Glad the real Alexis is back. Maybe she just realized that being three really rocks.

  28. I can't believe she has the self-awareness skills to say that she's done being mad now. Wow!!! She's a Psych major in training!

Since she's the female version of Brady, I told you she'd be back to normal in a matter of weeks. I'm glad A got the memo to follow suit...

I'll be sure to warn you in advance when Brady enters the next psycho phase, so that you have enough time to stock your house with mucho hard liquor.

  30. That is fantastic! Hopefully all of three will go smoothly!

Lurve that last photo of her!
