Sunday Notes on Monday

Yeah, so I fell behind on a few things, so I'm catching up tonight. Deal with it.

- Because TicketMaster recognizes that I am the master of the online ticket-buying universe, I was able to acquire a pair of tickets to yesterday's Penguins playoff game. Lesser beings would have sent the Toddler to a babysitter and made the game an adult activity, but we are brave souls who were willing to see if she could go 3 for 3 on being well-behaved while watching the Pens win. She did. She spent part of the game watching the "Penins skatin," part of the game playing with the completely unnecessary earplugs I brought in preparation for playoff level noise, and the rest of the game searching high and low for Iceburgh. Alexis rocks and so do the Penguins.

- The only thing worse than having mother truckin' worms in your saltwater aquarium is catching one of those worms (a BIG one, too!), sticking it in a little cup with the goal of flushing it in a few minutes, forgetting about it for two days, and then having to smell the odorific nastiness that is a worm two days decayed. I was thisclose to barfing when I flushed that sucker. I swear those stupid worms just keep finding ways to get under my skin.

- Alexis has a new favorite television program, Dancing with the Stars. The girl Waltzes and Fox Trots and generally shimmies and shakes her little hiney all over the living room when it's on. I need to get video because it nearly makes me fall over laughing every time. Have I ever mentioned that she dances about as well as Elaine on Seinfeld? Yeah. I need video.

- I think it's about darn time the Blogging Moms of Pittsburgh (and anybody else who is close enough to drive on in) held a little get-together. I mean, I've been wanting to meet you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and I already know you and you are awesome, so why not get us all together in one place at one time? Here's the thing, though, I don't like to do decisions. So, jump over here and we'll figure this whole thing out. Spread the word, too, so that we can have as much fun as possible. (I know the layout is beyond wretched and fully intend to fix it soon. Just pretend you didn't notice how very very bad it is, mmkay?) Let's keep the discussions of said get-together over there so as to not make our non-Pittsburgh friends incredibly jealous. Which they should be.

  1. being a non-Burgh friend....I am TOTALLY jealous. But hope you have a grand time. I need to see a video of the dancing toddler- that would rock. Ick on the worms! It just gets worse and worse.

  2. Oh... I do love hockey games! Haven't been to one in a while but have been to a couple of the Stanley Cup games back in the day!

  3. At 2 weeks old, my daughter started paying attention to TV basketball games. She's 16 now and an absolute NBA fanatic. I sense the same will happen (hockeywise) to your absolute cutest little Pens fan!

    GO PENS!!!

  5. Those are earplugs? Cause they look like carrots in her ears to me.

I'm totally heading over HERE but thought I'd publicly say it so as to make others wish they were Burghers.

And you've GOT to get a video of the dancing. How fun!

  6. Damn! Too bad I don't live in the Burgh. I could totally come and scare the hell out of all of you with my tranny head. My dad's from there . . . so that ought to count for something, right?

  7. I have heebie-jeebies from your worm story. *shudders* not cool, lady.
very jealous of your possible Burgh Bloggers get-together...could try to arrange a DC one, but it would be me and maybe LSHM and her tranny head. I uh, don't know any others that aren't Superstar bloggers that won't show up (Amalah, Wonkette, etc). Actually, I couldn't guarantee LSHM would show up except that she might do it for a blog post to garner more comments... ;)

  8. It worked. Totally jealous. I sooo would have driven the two hours, just to think I was cool enough to meet you (and Karen, she seems pretty fun too). But no, you gotta wait until I move away . . .

Also totally jealous of the Pens game. As a former Rink Rat (yes, seriously, a high school hockey team cheerleader/groupie), I would kill to see a game again.

  9. Not only am I NOT a 'Burgh friend, I think I may be the only one in Arizona that lives anywhere close to me. And yes, I know how that sounded. Shush. Its late here, and my well-documented lack of sleep excuses everything.

Condensed version of that mess up there? YES, I'm jealous.

I'll just go pout now. (But I really do hope you all can get together and have the most fun ever!)

    Sorry about your worms.

  11. You all rock.
Cant' wait to see the video, I'm a fan of this season only I tell ya. Once they voted off my Priscilla Presley, I kind a fell off the wagon. I for one would love to see a MTWorm too.
I've got a giveaway at the Maple. Beaded flip flops with matching earrings is the prize. Come play!

  12. I love, love, love me some hockey! I was heartbroken when my Caps lost in game 7 of the playoffs with the Flyers, but we all know they were robbed by the stupid calls!

I hope you enjoyed your game!

    Peace - D

  13. Griffin watched Survivor with me the other night, and asked for more when it was done! I love that kid!

  14. Can Alexis get my kid to sit still for more than 5 minutes when Dora is not involved? I'd love to take her to things, but she is just sooooo spastic.

  15. Yup, jealous here too!
I think I need to make some blog friends in my area.

Alexis rocks! I'm awed that she was able to tolerate 3 hours at a game like that!

  16. I took the Kid last year to see a Devils game and he was so good too. It's amazing what hockey will do to them! :)

  17. Since you are so unenthusiastic about knowing ME, I'm not sure I'm wanted at the shindig.

  18. Guess I have to send you cookies or a shirt to reach awesome status, huh?

  19. Yep I'm jealous about the get together.

And a HOCKEY game?!? We here in Toronto don't even REMEMBER what it's like to have a team in the play offs. Our team is REALLY bad and people still pay $500 for a seat. Sigh.

I guess I'm now twice jealous.

  20. Please don't ever say "worms" and "get under my skin" in the same sentence again. {{shudder}}.

I am absolutely pea green with envy that I can't come to your Burgh party.

  21. I'm back. I'm alive. I'm exhausted. ANd I need me some bully. In a bad way. Tell my most favorite bully that I've been thinking of her. Her adorable mug helped me pass the time while at the hospital.

    Missed your blog!

    Hallie :)

Great idea! I e-mailed you and voted in the poll and commented on the page and said that I would attend. Got all my bases covered.

The picture of Alexis with the little ear plugs is super cute! She's adorable.

  23. My team (the Oliers) didn't even make it to the playoffs. Bastards.

I hope your blogger get together works out. I meet with a group of bloggers from around here and we have a great time. There's not as mnay of us though!

  26. I'm close enough to drive . . . and am sick and tired of being jealous.

And, I'm already jealous about the game. BIG jealous. I'll get over it . . . eventually.

  27. I am jealous, except for the fact that would have to {GASP!} be in Steeler coutry to attended.

And, come on, I'm not that crazy ;)

  30. I think you should do your little get together in a TX zip code. Ya, it would be a bit inconvenient but totally worth it.

    Love the hockey pics.

  31. Yep, I'm pretty jealous. I love that you guys have such a great club so I thought I'd see if I could find one in K.C. Problem is, either I'm really terrible at finding things on the internet (which I am) or I live in a lamo city (which I don't). Either way, I guess I'm SOL. Hope you all have fun, but I appreciate you not rubbing it in all our non-burgh members noses.

  32. Jealous. That's me. Jealous that your family goes to NHL games. Jealous that your kid replaced Dora with something a bit less annoying. Jealous of your blog get together. But HA! Not jealous of the worms my friend.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm a Montreal Canadians fan, but don't hold that against me....it's the way I was raised, my whole family are Habs fans.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ugh. Thinking about those worms makes me gag.
Why don't I live in your burg? Damn!

Those pics are so cute I just want to squeeze her cheeks!

  35. Not fair! I wished I lived in Pittsb...wait, I can't say that - I'm a Colts fan!! :-)

  36. Me jealous? HA! I think you were jealous of the DC Area Meet Up we're doing and needed to show me up with having a way better site to communicate information (a POLL!!! What a great idea!).

Okay, I'm a bit jealous. I want to meet all you guys too.

    Fine. I'm really jealous. :-(

My husband and his friends buy season passes and they share games. He has taken the boys and they are awesome. We went to a pre-season practice and it was so much fun. My favorite game I went to was when I was pregnant with Aivlene and I demanded Jon to buy me food every two seconds. I think I ate Mellon Arena alive.

I think they are going to sweep this series....

  41. Go Pens! My husband is watching the games on TV and cursing that we now living 500 miles away.

  42. I am incredibly jealous. But I'm happy for you. The earplugs were a very smart move. Sorry about the worm (gag!)

I am so honored to be in your list! I live close enough for a day trip but I am not sure I can do it. And I feel old next to you young moms! Heck, my dds are having babies already but I am in my prime yet! It's a weird place for me to be and like I said, I am honored you would like to meet me. I will keep a watch on the dates and stuff and let you know.
Go Pens! It's been forever and a day since I went to a hockey game in the Arena!

ps. It was the Civic Arena then....showing my age, huh?
