I have taken a vow to stop whining about the weather. I can't control it, so I need to just go with it. Sure, when it's between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day, I'm likely to be wishing for snow, but that's not really whining.
Nope.
Not whining.
And now, snow in April? Why would I whine about that?
Just because it was 70 degrees yesterday and we spent hours riding bikes all around Pittsburgh doesn't mean I shouldn't expect it to get below freezing tonight. It doesn't mean I shouldn't be fine with potentially waking up to an inch of snow. It doesn't mean I shouldn't be prepared for a total of two inches of fluffy white stuff in the next 24 hours.
Except, I'm not prepared. I packed away my winter coat a LONG time ago. I am nothing, if not stubborn. And unprepared.
Nope, not whining.
And if I did kinda-sorta-maybe mention to Alexis that it was a little cold outside? It would have kinda-sorta-maybe done no good.
She told me to put on a coat.

ReplyDeleteThere is NO SNOW out there. I refuse to accept it. The grass is green and the sun is shining. It is not - I repeat NOT SNOWING. It is April. Such things are simply not done.

His shirt says, "I'm Grumpy because you're Dopey." Alexis saw it at Disney World, asked me what it said, giggled when I told her, and then insisted that we buy it for him. I don't think she really understands the message, but it still cracks me up that she thought it was a fitting shirt for him.
ReplyDeleteI have that same shirt - my kids also thought that it was perfect for me. probably because I have nearly every Grumpy T-shirt from the past eight years. Last year I finally bought a non-Grumpy (or Goofy) shirt, it was a Donald shirt stating that I failed my anger management class.

Oh, and I am also whining about the weather - the snow can go away, anyday now.
although we haven't had any snow that stuck, it's fallen and we've had hail, frigid temperatures and vicious winds. When it froze out our re commitment ceremony I was done. Through. Ticked.

ReplyDeleteI was gone last Saturday, when we were dumped with eight inches of snow. Driving home on Sunday. I was surprised to find nearly NONE. Gone. Insane.
The freeze killed my almost fruitful tomato plants last night. In south Texas. DEEP south Texas. We have no snow, but it's so wrong to use the heat here in April. Our AC should be running non stop by now.

ReplyDeleteYeah, a week or so ago I wrote about feeling spring in the air, blah, blah, blah. It's snowing outside right now and I'm pretty sure it's my fault.
ReplyDeleteI have found over the years that it snows in April a lot more often than one would expect. (Not more as in how many times that month, but more years that it snows at least once in April than you would think.) It's why I'm not truly happy about the weather until May. I can never count on April.
